While we're here, when you getting on stage again?
I got some bullets in the chamber. I just got to find the right time to shoot them. Metaphorically.
And I'm Jordan. That's Jordan to be riding on all socials.
They always take these like super serious tones and I don't, is that a, is there a reason for that?
why can't you just make something new? I don't get it.
Yeah, the reboots are exhausting at this point.
The concept of a different world isn't really all that like unique. Just do.
Yeah, same. It almost gave me shades of that. Have you seen that show, Dear White People?
I have not. No, I did. The title alone was a non-starter for me.
Right. Yeah, it gave me a little bit of shades of that. Like, Grown-ish was a sitcom.
No, I mean, it's just all swap. Like if you scroll through and sometimes I'll read a
That's a that's a stretch to get a movie out of you.
No, yeah, for real. It's a homework movie.
You just like there's this the diplomat
I think if it's made by Netflix for Netflix, it's terrible. All of it's really bad.
I hear you, man. You want to head into our first topic?
You better just wear them wrinkled. I don't care.
I've been in my current place three years next month. I don't think I plugged my iron in one time.
I'm glad you didn't say like bathing, but.
Oh, yeah. No, I do that every day.
But now I am. I do not iron. I can't. I can't do it.
anyone under the age of 50 still iron? Do you know anybody, any of your peers, friends? Anybody?
As long as your sheets are clean, I don't see the problem.
That bed is going to look like it did at 10 A.m. at 10 P.m. at dawn.
I only vacuum once a week now. I feel like vacuuming every day is performative as hell.
Yeah, every day is nice. I'm sorry. Unless you have like a husky. I don't get the point.
I do have a cat, but so they should. I vacuum once a week the whole place.
it's probably leading to the wrinkles. We're establishing a chain of chain connection here.
You know in therapy to say it all connects.
I literally, I literally, like I take my clothes and I ball them up and I put them in the drawers.
No, I didn't go sit up here and perform for y'all. No, I do not.
I'm not the designer, so it don't matter.
That's a flex man. We're gonna brush your shoulders off.
I did get some less of the feedback from our episode. We talked about the dress code at Tuskegee.
I think they're fine. I don't know.
Yeah, it feels like giving up.
It really does. But no, man, if you find
At work, we call that user error.
And you can go. You don't need to wear Velcro shoes and comfy pants everywhere.
I think I've decided to stop. I think I've decided to retire. So I will be no, I'm just kidding.
Oh, yeah, you, yeah. No, I love what I do.
and keep it in one folder and I was able to back it up and it was good.
Anytime I see someone with like a large wad of cash, I'm like,
You're actually losing money, Lucky.
Well, not even that, it's like,
You have to keep it on you somewhere.
Like you have to put it in your pocket.
And if you lose it, it's just gone forever.
It's something it's it makes you a target.
Google Wallet, whatever your phone.
Cash used to be the most convenient way to pay for things, but now it's fine.
And anytime I see someone with a bunch of cash, I'm not going to lie, my spider sets start tingling.
Because if it was, you'd keep it in your bank.
If you ran a business, you wouldn't just accept someone's duffel bag money.
Well, depending on the business.
Yeah, unless you're like a bartender.
I got work concessions after college, after graduation for a few months.
And so I just like always had a **** ton of cash.
And I had a legitimate job in the house.
So that was like a lot of cash.
But it makes me think of that viral.
You do realize that was 10 years ago, right?
That was before Google, Google Wallet and Apple Pay.
I had a bunch of has in college in 1970.
It's back when we came back from the war.
No, it makes me think of that.
You ever saw that viral clip of Jim Jones?
He was like doing it, recording a live podcast episode.
And he like was trying to like make cash slip out of his pocket on accident.
And they're like, oh, you dropping bread.
He's like, oh my God, it's so embarrassing.
It's like the word, like cash is legit beyond just inconvenient.
It's like, especially for those dudes who have large lump sums of money.
It's just, it's like the worst place that you could just put it in a bank account.
And that like, if you lose a credit card, you call, they cancel it.
Ain't even no point in calling.
There's nothing for you to do.
But to get back to the topic, I think I'm with you.
It's important to share wins, but I do think people overshare.
Like I maintain that a big reason why a lot of companies had RTO.
Initiatives is because of those day in the life videos where people weren't doing any damn work.
It's like, yes, I'm not knocking what you do, but why are you making the block so hot?
It's like, you never want to call attention to how little work you're doing.
You want to look like you're on the verge of death while you're at work.
Yeah, because somebody's going to ask, well, why are they even here in the 1st place?
And someone was like, y'all still haven't learned to shut the **** **.
Also, what job are you working where you can just disappear for an hour and a half?
You know, I've been in an office, I've been remote.
There's a lot of BSing in both ways, but yeah.
You just, it's like, it's, that don't rub the company's face in it.
Just keep it low, keep it cool.
Like, you know, act like you've been there.
You know, there's also there's a difference in how you do it.
And it's another thing to just be outrunning errands.
But if you were at the crib watching Game of Thrones and you just, okay, cool, hopped on.
That's how you, like there's a way to use.
Grab your headset or whatever you got to do.
I mean, you got to run a package.
That's one thing if you got, you know, whatever, but you know, be strategic about it.
And it's like, have you ever been in like any work meetings where someone's like, obviously driving?
Or you see the teams and it's a cell phone and it's like, yeah.
I'm glad you had fun at the mall.
But no, I think as someone who's pretty private, I get I
I get both sides of it, but I do think oversharing is a bad.
Also, people overshare too much negatives about their lives.
There are some people and I'm like, have you ever had a good day?
posting your emergency room visit.
We really don't need to see like your head busted open getting stitches.
Like that **** that's like, that sounds like a family personal type.
I think people underuse close friends.
You know, some **** you just keep for your inner circle.
Every day it's a paragraph post.
My favorite is like the just text that person post where the like,
now I'm the evil person because I decided to call you out.
Just please take us out the group chat.
Like this is for an audience of 1.
Like I don't, why do I have to be a party to this?
And it's like, you have a loving family and a full social circle.
What the hell are you talking about?
That is the absolute worst, man.
It's just, you know what I actually hate?
But like, do they consent to this photo of being like, look at this slave I hired.
I just threw her some crumbs and she was like, some breadcrumbs and she jumped.
She's probably well compensated to be honest with you.
And you're going to tell me, that's fine?
And you're probably overpaying, to be honest.
They're not asking for this photo.
They've been at work all day and it's like.
And if you like, they really hate you afterwards.
Like, we know that you hired a servant for the day.
We don't need you to see the evidence.
You have anything else for it?
I'm trying to think, you know,
The the subtle like breakup announcements.
We don't need those like those losses.
You can just, you know, you put that in your poetry.
You can, you know, save that for your creative outlets.
It just, you know, it's like, again.
I saw somebody post like a performing tonight.
Everybody get your get your tissues ready.
And I'm like, You're assuming a lot, buddy.
I'm not emotionally vested in this, buddy.
Like, you get your tissues ready.
Who goes up there to tend to make people cry?
I know people do that, but it is.
And then imagine if, imagine if it wasn't good to like, you started looking stupid.
I'm with open mic is it's open?
Especially with you, especially like if you do a big lead up, like, it's.
Over deliver, like, hey, I'm hopping on stage tonight.
that's about all I'll do for the most part.
While we're here, when you get on stage again.
That and work has just been like a lot of stress lately the last couple weeks.
So I got some bullets in the chamber.
I just got to find the right time to shoot them.
We will pivot right from there.
It's a good way to end that segment.
It's on you for popular things.
They were like, I think I'm, does that mean I'm basic?
And it's like, those are big time franchises.
They have nationally televised.
So if you are in a small city or small town, that's who you're going to see.
like a beyoncé fan, or if you, know what I mean?
Or people act like you're * **** writer.
If you're a rap fan, you like say, Jay-Z's the GOAT or, you know, whatever, **** like that.
The MF Doom fans who are like, well, I listen to MF Doom.
It rest in peace, you know, but yeah, it's just **** like that.
Like even like actors or like people like try to **** on like popular actors.
I'm like, you know, they get those roles because they're like really, really good.
The thing about acting is that you don't know what good acting is until you see bad acting.
And then you see a bad actress and you're like, oh, she's cool.
Yeah, no, yeah, that's a great way to put it.
When you started before you said the name, that's kind of what.
Again, like acting is one of those things you don't appreciate till you see the bad stuff.
I am very mainstream in most of my interests in movies and music and sports.
Like I will watch a football game between the two obscure, like an NFL.
No, if it's not between two ranked teams, I'm not watching it.
If it's not NBA, for the most part, I watch a lot of that.
Popular things are popular for a reason.
And you're not smarter than everybody.
If you don't like if you if you like something a bit more obscure, we all have our niches.
But yeah, it's people are so obsessed with being different that
It just starts to be obnoxious.
And it's like, my favorite movie is this, Japanese subtitled black and white film from 1947.
And it's like, no, it's not stop.
You did not come home from work after a ****** day and watch that movie.
It took you seven days to get through that movie because it was so dry.
And like you only got through it because it was an assignment in your advanced film study class.
And you know, like it's just like you cut it out.
If you look at the top 10 list of IDMV, we've done that on a previous episode.
It's all movies that had like mainstream cultural.
There's no Schindler's List might be the most niche one.
And I think that was a also an Academy award-winning movie.
Right about to say that was a big deal.
For the past few years, I've seen most of them.
Yeah, you'd watch the Oscars and you'd be like, I have seen three of these movies.
It just gets to a point where it's like when you're
Like in high school, it became a cool thing to like **** on fast food.
Like everybody was like, ew, I hate Wendy's.
Also like they're going home and like picking fruit out their garden and then.
I like you have a cow in your backyard that you're going to ******* brace yourself.
IBM and McDonald's lie like everybody else.
And if I do it, I promise you some of these people are lying.
You know, it's like, go ahead.
Mainstream things with broad appeal are good.
And if that's controversial to say, then I guess like I listen to Kendrick Lamar and Drake.
I listen to, you know, I don't listen to your like people be like real R&B is still exists.
You just have to search for it, bro.
I'm not scouring through SoundCloud to find a good music.
brought to my attention, I'm probably never gonna play it.
Like good R&B used to be brought to my attention.
It's all right if I don't have the Spotify artist who has 80,000 streams.
No, I feel you because so for my boss, Mandela, for me is like Key Glock and T Grizzly.
Like I ******* love those dudes.
I think they should be bigger art, way bigger artists than they are.
You know, them dudes never missed to me.
I feel like everyone has their people that they feel like are just theirs for sure.
But, you know, Motion Party made Obama's Song of the Summer.
So it's like, I'm not exactly picking the most obscure artist.
And like the wash thing just got to be too much for me.
Like people like acting like they turned 30 and they just fell apart.
And it's like, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's like, Jeezy got to start doing afternoon shows.
And I'm like, that's a little too wash for me.
You went to bed at 8 o'clock in Vegas.
Unless you work at like 5 A.m.
I don't know anybody that's going to sleep at 8 o'clock.
That's a little too wash for me, big dog.
And I'm king of the wash crew, but 8 o'clock on a Vegas trip, you missed the concert.
I think I hate that performative, like I'm getting like we're old ****.
Like, let's have some perspective.
Like, I don't understand that.
your knees start hurting at 32.
And I'm like, well, I mean, maybe you should make some changes because my knees don't hurt.
If my knee hurts, it's because I fell.
That's your body signaling something that you should change.
You should not be falling apart at age 35.
Like you still have more than half your life left on average.
Not unless you're like working
out strenuously or something like that.
I concur man you got anything else for it?
Oh man um lowest hanging fruit is J Cole
Not a big Marvel person at all.
Oh, like the Joe Budden podosphere.
Every time I see a clip, it's like 7 hot mics.
And I'm like, I do not for the life of me understand how anyone watches it.
There's way too many hot mics.
I can't follow anything that shows about, but no, especially when it comes to music.
Cole is the big one where I'm just like, I don't get it.
Oh, a Wu-Tang Clan is another one where I'm just like, I don't follow it.
I don't understand why this is so popular.
But yeah, I would say the two biggest ones would be Wu-Tang and J.
Cole are just like universally acclaimed, 100% approval rating, except for me.
Is there I can someone send me the link to the music that I'm hearing because I don't hear it.
You know, Olivia Rodrigo, don't really get the hype.
She's cool, but she's, like, really popular.
I think her pain is pretty basic.
She is just like, she's loaded.
Held this, like, great songwriter.
I'm not saying she's not a great songwriter.
It's just like I've never been like, oh, crazy bars, you know?
I just don't think she's a very good vocalist.
I mean, that's not really most.
Like, I can't remember the last time I like listened to a whole album of hers.
And so I can't really call it either way.
I think there's a difference between.
Right, for sure, yes, You know, J.
Cole is, and that's why it's different for me.
Cole, I'm like, this is for me and I don't get it.
But like Taylor Swift, I can understand that **** might as well be in German.
That's probably part of what it is.
Who's like a big artist out right now?
I mean, he's achieved a lot, but it's like, it's almost like,
Like he has a missed talent, but his bodies of work do not.
That's actually a good, he's got to make the Hall of Fame.
The trophies are on the mantle.
In real time, you're like, man, he gets a lot of shots up.
Yeah, and you're like, damn, he does not make a decision.
Why'd you let that album come out with that many songs?
Record for two hours and just put it on the internet.
Cut it down to the stuff that.
Yeah, you got to trim the fat.
Just literally dumps his hard drive on us.
He's just like, here's 50 gigs.
Royalty was a pretty solid album.
It has like, you know, here I stand.
Raymond versus Raymond was cool.
Yeah, Raymond versus Raymond was cool.
If you put Raymond versus Raymond in Here I Stand Together, you have a good album.
Yeah, but it's been 10 years of bricks like that joint.
Yeah, Hard to Love was not good.
That one before the Super Bowl, the Peach one, that's that was more that was an air ball.
And then I heard that album the day of, and I was like, what the **** man?
You should drop this after the Super Bowl.
You know this **** is a break when you go on two tours afterwards and the songs made the set list.
You just dropped an album and none of the songs made the set list.
Yeah, you're doing like legacy acts right now, which is kind of crazy to see.
I mean, you know, it's, I do think about, I was talking to a friend about that.
when Justin Timberlake dropped and we were like, it's kind of, it's not.
You know, like Prince and Mike's 90s output, you go back, it's a song here, it's a song there.
The whole albums are kind of, Stevie Wonder is kind of the same.
There's it's not going to get a lot of new material.
That's going to be right with you.
And I think our our big acts that we grew up with, they were like child prodigies.
It just looks different because, Chris is in his late 30s, Usher's what, like 47, 48, 50?
But I mean, Stevie, Mike and Prince were all child prodigies.
Mike had a whole damn group in his childhood.
Like, it's rare you get a total brick.
But Usher's that one with the peach.
I heard that album the day it came out and I've not heard one, like a note of that album since.
I listened to it on this morning of the Super Bowl and I just decided, you know?
It actually made me sad for the Super Bowl.
It's like I just recently watched that new scary movie from the Waynes Brothers.
And, you know, like I said, I think I posted on Instagram, I was like, don't watch this.
You don't want to see them like this.
You know, it's like when your loved ones are nearing the end and you're like, yeah, you know what?
It's like, yeah, it's like ****.
It was like, man, I think don't go in there.
That's my, another name on my list.
Someone who's really, really getting a lot of shine for stuff.
Apparently she has been in a production behind the scenes role for a while.
So she's sort of like an industry darling.
only seeing what she's put out, like her music is bad.
One battle after another, she was fine for the 10 minutes she was in the movie.
I cut it off after like 25 minutes.
But you know, what can you do?
Everybody can't be the greatest of all time, you know?
They felt like the problem was scary movie.
The new one was that Marlon tried to be the star of it.
I mean, you'll talk 30 minutes, I guess, but what would you say to that?
They should have just left that in the drafts.
know, it felt like they, so when did they lose?
So they made like, it was the sixth one.
So they were involved with like the first three or four, right?
All the jokes felt straight out of the early aughts.
Just remember the good days, These are the Wayne's family.
Iconic legends is redundant, but you know what I mean.
And then just skip the funeral then, I guess, is the.
Pay your respects and get up out of there.
Well, thank you for listening.
This D's all up in your area on all socials.
